Great Lakes Engineering Group was selected to work as an extension of staff to MDOT on their two year I-75 reconstruction project as part of an As-Needed service through the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Lansing and Brighton TSCs. This project required the complete closure of I-75, one direction at a time, in order to accommodate the reconstruction of 5.5 miles of the 6-lane freeway, 6 bridges, 3 interchanges, 3 precast concrete box culverts, as well as ITS, electrical work and freeway lighting upgrades.
Our GLEG team provided a wide range of services on this project from roadway inspection of removals, concrete pavement, hot mix asphalt placement, median barrier wall, light standards, ITS installation guardrail and right of way fence installation, and turf establishment and landscaping. GLEG also provided bridge construction inspection of new bridges that consisted of concrete superstructures, cofferdams and drilled shafts, as well as deck replacements, widenings, superstructure replacements, and pier cap replacements.
