Great Lakes Engineering Group is proud to have the opportunity to perform as-needed construction oversight along with the Michigan Department of Transportation’s Jackson TSC team for the new bridges along and over I-94 in Jackson, Michigan. The I-94 project consists of a significant amount of bridge and roadway work. There is approximately 7.5 miles of freeway that is being resurfaced, in addition to nearly 1.5 miles that is being totally reconstructed and re-aligned 60 feet south of its current location. The I-94 Cooper Street interchange is being totally redesigned and rebuilt including the widening of Cooper Street, and the addition of roundabouts at the exit and entrance ramps. This project also includes the removal and replacement of the bridge carrying Cooper Street over I-94 with a brand-new structure, and the total removal and replacement of the two large bridges that currently carry eastbound and westbound I-94 over the Grand River.
Our GLEG team provides a wide range of services on this project including both day and night shift operations. Our construction field staff provide oversight for removal of the existing bridges, driving sheeting, cofferdam construction, micro-pile installation, substructure concrete placement including pier and abutment construction, beam placement, pan decking installation, reinforcing steel placement, and superstructure deck pours. GLEG also provided MDOT with engineering assistance including project photography, and ombudsman services where we respond to public concerns through a dedicated 24-hour phone line.
