Client: Michigan Department of Transportation, Taylor TSC
Location: Various Counties, MI
Construction Budget: $300 Million
The Michigan Department of Transportation awarded Great Lakes Engineering Group (GLEG) the opportunity to work alongside MDOT on their I-275 reconstruction project as part of the final phase of the “Revive275” corridor of projects. GLEG was selected for as-needed construction services to work alongside MDOT Taylor TSC to complete this massive project in Wayne County. The project spans over 23 miles along I-275 from just south of Wayne/Monroe County line northernly to 6-mile road. The project involves over 23 miles of road reconstruction, the rehabilitation of 62 bridges, drainage improvements, guardrail and signal upgrades, added ITS infrastructure, etc. This project will be completed using “staged” construction where NB and SB I-275 traffic will be shifted to one side of the freeway allowing the reconstruction of tee other. Traffic will be separated by the use of concrete temporary barrier wall.
Although this contract was part of an “As-Needed” service, our GLEG team is familiar with a multitude of contracting and project delivery methods and is always willing to do whatever it takes to best accommodate the changing needs of our clients. GLEG also provided MDOT with as-needed project photography, and ombudsman services where we respond to public concerns through a dedicated 24-hour phone line.
