Client: Michigan Department of Transportation, Brighton TSC
Location: Washtenaw County and Pittsfield Township, MI
Construction Budget: $69 Million

Great Lakes Engineering Group (GLEG) was selected by the MDOT Brighton TSC to perform full Construction Engineering Services on the US-23 reconstruction and rehabilitation project from Carpenter to Ellsworth in Washtenaw County. This project consists of 7.3 miles of hot mix asphalt reconstruction, cold milling and resurfacing, added weave/merge lanes on US-23 between US-12 and I-94, and 4 structure rehabilitations/reconstructions. This included a full bridge replacement of the Michigan Avenue (US-12) bridge over US-23 as well as interchange reconstruction to include added loop ramps and bridge widening for added sidewalk. The major component to this project was the removal and construction of a widened Michigan Avenue (US-12) bridge and interchange as the schedules for the bridge interchange and reconstruction on US-23 were continuous. This project also consisted of raising the Stoney Creek and Willis structures over US-23 to increase bridge clearances in the corridor.

Our team is performing a full range of services on this project including construction engineering and oversight major bridge work, HMA milling and resurfacing, sheeting piling, substructure concrete placement including pier and abutment construction, concrete beam placement, concrete and asphalt construction as well as thorough understanding of traffic movement and maintenance.
